Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls of ALL of ages, have you ever wanted to go deeper with the LORD only to discover His Words to us are already written in the Bible? Here are some FRESH Revelations about our proximity to JESUS from the Gospel of LUKE!
AS IT IS WRITTEN IN Luke 2:40 The Boy Jesus Amazes the Scholars
And the Child grew and became strong in Spirit, filled with Wisdom; and the Grace of God was upon Him. [Matthew 1:18-25] His (earthly) parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.
And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it; but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances.
So, when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him.
Now it was that after three days they found Him in the Temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And ALL who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.
So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, Son, why have You done this to us? Look, your father and I have sought You anxiously.
And He said to them, Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s Business?
But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.
Dear ones, there is so much in these few verses about how we respond to God’s Presence in our daily lives.
Once a year they traveled to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover Feast – every year the family and acquaintances would WALK from Nazareth to Jerusalem!
After this Feast the parents traveled a day’s journey away from the city, BEFORE the realized JESUS was NOT with them physically. Remember Jesus is only twelve years old. Notice that when they LOST JESUS, they were returning to their place of comfort – normal life with chores and responsibilities.
They did NOT make communication with JESUS a PRIORITY since they ‘knew’ where they were headed. How could these parents loose JESUS? The same way that we DO when we do NOT make Proximity a Priority and we desire a Destination over Devotion!
After three days (sound familiar) they found JESUS in the Temple Courts TALKING with people (teachers) as ALL who heard Him were astonished at His Understanding and Answers.
Mother Mary like any Jewish mother tries to school JESUS by saying - Son, why have You done this to us? Look, your father and I have sought You anxiously.
No rebuke comes from JESUS, because He says
Why did you seek & search for Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s Business? (preaching & teaching in My Father’s House).
JESUS was not asking this question for Himself to know. What can we learn about ourselves when we ASK the questions –
WHY GOD have You DONE THIS . . . .???
JESUS earthly parents have the incredible task of STEWARDING this human child’s Life! These earthly parents are closer to JESUS than anyone else in this extended family group. Yet even they lost their focus on JESUS for a brief time.
In other words, JESUS is saying – You claim you know Me so well, but you being anxious about this situation is an indication that you may NOT know Me as well as you say you DO! [Philippians 4:6 BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING!]
IF you did know Me, then you would KNOW there is NOTHING to WORRY about!
MAYBE IF it is hard for you to HEAR from GOD – that may be because He is in the last place that you left Him; after you made a decision without Him!
You can go from person to person, even in the Church houses, but you will never receive the PEACE you are looking for until you return to JESUS!
JESUS will welcome you with OPEN ARMS & unconditional FORGIVENESS & GREAT GRACE on your Life! YOU ARE that ONE Sheep that The Good Shepherd will leave the herd to bring you BACK where you BELONG!
Holy Spirit of TRUTH, we PRAY in agreement with Your Word in Philippians 4:4-7
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I will say, REJOICE! Let your gentleness be known to all men & women. The Lord is at hand.
BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING, but in everything by Prayer and supplication, with Thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the Peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
