Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, what does the LORD our God require of us? As we are being persecuted as Believers by the world’s systems, how do we remain calm and confident?
AS IT IS WRITTEN IN Matthew 5:38-41
You have heard that it was said, ‘AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH [punishment that fits the offense].’
But I say to you, do not resist an evil person [who insults you or violates your rights]; but whoever slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other toward him also [simply ignore insignificant insults or trivial losses and do not bother to retaliate—maintain your dignity, your self-respect, your poise].
If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also [for the Lord repays the offender]. And whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two.
Why did JESUS say to Turn the other cheek?
Someone HITS my face and hurts me physically emotionally and takes from me a piece of my fruit. Imagine that I am an ORANGE Tree full of oranges and someone takes about 6 – 8 oranges from a branch or two or three. Once the fruit is removed, no one can put it back on the tree. What IF we TRY to get that fruit back? How can we do that? What will we do with the fruit even IF we get it back.
Jesus says to show that picker the other sides to my tree, because IF I try to recover from my offence – will I be patient; will I be kind; will I be truthful. Imagine my Tree has as its’ roots the Fruit of The Spirit, because JESUS IS IN ME!
What MIGHT happen is that I could cut off the source of what Created within me to produce the fruit on my tree in the first place. Lose the root system, lose the tree!
The people that HURT me cannot HEAL me! Getting back what they have taken from me is really pointless and UNFRUITFUL by any measure. Remember that LOVING over time and even praying for your enemies will RESTORE your tree to bear more fruit!
Jesus says WE ARE to PRAY for our enemies and for those that spitefully abuse you! [Matthew 5:43]
It IS His Living Waters that nourishes my Spiritual Root Systems and allows me to bear much fruit which is Pleasing to my Heavenly Father!
How are we to be Ambassadors for Christ and BE LIKE JESUS in all that we SAY and ALL that we DO?
LORD JESUS, we PRAY in agreement with Your Word in Micah 6:8
He has told you, Oh man, what is GOOD; and what does the LORD require of you? Except to be just, and to LOVE [and to diligently practice] Kindness (Compassion), and to walk humbly with your God [setting aside any overblown sense of importance or self-Righteousness].
Surely His Goodness and His Mercies shall follow me ALL the days of my Life, AND I shall dwell in the House of the LORD FOREVER!
HALLELUJAH!!!
