Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, we often times listen to songs being sung to one another. Just an old fashion LOVE Song as an expression of our emotions set in a melody that moves us.  We have displayed a song like I’m gonna Love you Forever, Forever and Ever AMEN! by Randy Travis as a song that can and does go either Way!

Almighty GOD singing to us as His Bride of Christ OR as the Promise of a young man to the Love of his LIFE!

Here is another popular song that can and does go either Way!

The Wedding Song by Noel Paul Stookey of Peter Paul & Mary fame.

“I knew where to GO to get a Blessing. So, I honestly and openly PRAYED for the lyrics to this song and they came in a RUSH!  How would You manifest Yourself at Peter’s Wedding”?

I AM now to be among you, at the calling of your hearts

Rest assured this troubadour is acting on your part

The UNION of your Spirits here has caused Me to remain

For whenever two or more of you are gathered in My Name

These were the original words to this song written from GOD’s Perspective to us, UNTIL my sweet wife asked me to “play the song” a couple of hours before the Wedding!  I felt kind of like Moses coming down the mountain with the two tablets of stone. Maybe Yes, was I supposed to play it for her? I’ve never done anything like this before.

Realizing that singing I AM NOW seems to be a little self-centered, so I changed the pronoun on the spot.

He is now to be among you . . .

Imagine IF I had left it alone, this would have been applicable to EVERYONE!

Changing the pronoun to the patriarchal He, instead of a first-Person Love song to us all

We might need a Bumper sticker that proclaims:

In matters of Theology, it is wise that we remember

In Christ there is NO east nor west

In GOD there is NO Gender!

The Wedding Song – story behind story Noel Paul Stookey

For the rest of the story:

Wedding Song (There Is Love) is a song written by Noel Paul Stookey in the fall of 1969 and first performed at the wedding of Peter Yarrow - Stookey's co-member of Peter, Paul and Mary - to Mary Beth McCarthy at St Mary's Catholic Church in Willmar MN: Stookey was best man at the ceremony which took place in the evening of October 18, 1969. Stookey had written the song on a midnight flight between Peter, Paul and Mary concert dates in San Jose and Boston setting out to write a song for Yarrow's wedding which would convey Stookey's Christian convictions while respecting Yarrow's Jewish Faith. According to Stookey the melody and the words [of "Wedding Song"] arrived simultaneously and in response to a direct prayer asking God how the Divine could be present at Peter's wedding.

The first two lines of the song's second verse: "A man shall leave his mother and a woman leave her home/ And they shall travel on to where the two shall be as one", is largely a paraphrase of the text of Genesis 2:24: "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." Believing he could not take personal credit for composing "The Wedding Song", Stookey set up the Public Domain Foundation which since 1971 has received the song's songwriting royalties for charitable distribution.
