Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, one of the amazing functions of our cell phones is the ability to create our very own PLAYLIST of music! We do NOT have to wade through 6 or 7 commercials for stuff we will never need just to HEAR our favorite song. Believers today have the luxury of selecting from a broad range of Gospel Music – Old Southern Gospel or what some call Country Gospel to Contemporary Christian Music like Maranatha or Hillsong or recently Elevation Worship and Maverick City Music! We may remember a movie from 1980 that was about a Jewish Cantor (Neil Diamond) who wrote and performed with a group of musicians in nightclubs in New York City.
Yussel Rabinovitch is a young, fifth-generation Jewish Cantor performing at the synagogue of his imperious father. Yussel is married to his childhood friend Rivka and settled down to a life of religious devotion to the teaching of his faith.
But on the side, he writes songs for a black singing group, and when a member of the quartet is arrested, Yussel covers for him at one of their gigs by wearing blackface. The nightclub engagement is a success, but one of the patrons notices that Yussel's hands are white and speaks out. A fight ensues, and the band is arrested. Yussel's father comes to the jail to bail them out and discovers there is not a Yussel Rabinovitch there, but a Jess Robin. His father questions him about the name, and Yussel confesses that it is a stage name he uses when performing.
His father tells him that his singing voice was to be used for God's Purposes, not his own.

The soundtrack eventually reached multi-platinum status, becoming Neil Diamond's most successful album to date and one of the more successful film soundtrack albums in history.
There is one scene where Neil Diamond actually sings the Scriptures as a Jewish Cantor in the film as part of the story line – it is amazing!
Putting Scriptures to MUSIC is food for our Spiritual SOUL!
AS IT IS WRITTEN IN Romans 10:8-17
But what does it say? “The Word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” [Deuteronomy 30:12] (that is, the Word of Faith which we preach) AND SING, that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be SAVED – Free Gift of Salvation!
For with the heart one believes unto Righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto SALVATION – Being made FREE from consequences of my sin.
For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” [Isaiah 28:16]
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.
For “whoever calls on the Name of the LORD shall be SAVED.” [Joel 2:32]
So then Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: “Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their Words to the ends of the world.” [Psalm 19:4]
