Ladies and Gentlemen, 1893 an English Professor at Wellesley College named Katharine Lee Bates made a trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado and was so inspired by the view from atop the mountain – Pike’s Peak that she wrote what she saw.

Above the fruited plain!

From sea to shining sea!
Oh beautiful for pilgrim feet { Isaiah 52:7 }
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare of freedom beat { Isaiah 35:8 }
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control, { Galatians 5:22 }
Thy liberty in law! { James 1:25 }
Oh beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine { Malachi 3:3 }
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain Divine!
Oh beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!

Father-God we THANK YOU for these words and this music to help us understand what many believe about AMERICA! LORD, You have Blessed us abundantly! You have entrusted us we the stewardship of these bountiful riches. We are FREE to worship You LORD in the beauty of Your Holiness. We are FREE to choose this day whom we shall serve! As for me and my household,
WE WILL SERVE the LORD OUR GOD – JEHOVAH!
