The United Nations Development Program estimates that the basic health and nutritional needs of the world’s poorest people could be met for an additional $13 Billion a year.  Animal lovers in the United States and Europe spend more than that on pet food each year.

Father, as we come to that time each year when we set aside a day to give You thanks, and celebrate with a wonderful meal;  May we not forget to share what we have with those who may have very little to be thankful for. We should always do what we can to bless them.  Amen and Amen!

Here is the scriptural reference for today’s prayer of agreement:

Then He said to him, "A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, 'Come, for all things are now ready.' But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.' And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.' Still another said, 'I have married a wife {she does not know your family or she wants to go to the Cowboy’s game}, and therefore I cannot come.'

So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.' And the servant said, 'Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.' Then the master said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.’    Luke 14:16-23

Ladies and Gentlemen, how much food do we waste each day? Have you ever noticed that the portions of food served to children and seniors is more than enough for most adults between the ages of 12 and 65 to eat at one sitting?  Why do we continue to “over eat” at every meal?

How many of you know a single mom that has small children? We often do not realize how their world is WITHOUT some of the simple things that we may take for granted. After reading a statement recently, here is a paraphrase of that thought:

Helping one single mom and her family won’t change the world . . . . . . . however, it will change the world for that single mom and her family!

No act of kindness, no matter how small is every wasted. Invite that single mother and her child (children) out to eat with you and your family the next time that you go.  Asked them to come to your house, then order pizza and watch the Cowboy game together. This will be a great outing for them and your house will be full of laughter and joy once again.

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.   Hebrews 13:2
