It has been reported by reliable sources that in the United States, 11.7 million children live in households where people will have to skip meals or eat less to make ends meet.  That would mean for every ten houses that you pass ONE household is living with hunger or they are at risk of hunger.

Father, we pray today for those who have less to eat than they need to stay healthy. Move on the hearts of those who have more than they need to give to those who have less than they need. This we pray in the Name of Christ Jesus our Lord.   Amen and Amen!

Here is the scriptural reference for today’s prayer of agreement:

'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.

"Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'  And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'    Matthew 25:34-40

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are very Blessed to live and work in country that celebrates a day of giving Thanks to Almighty God!  America’s generosity has been recorded throughout history. The pilgrims that landed at Plymouth Rock believed God and received His Divine Provision from those native Americans.

Our first President, believed God and it was reckoned to him as “Righteousness” or a right way of living. George Washington had military success, personal property success, and governmental success.  George Washington visited his troops at Valley Forge in the harsh winter and prayed with them, encouraged them. George Washington met with members of the First Congress and prayed with them to seek first the Kingdom of God. Our first President understood that every person that he came in contact with was precious to God and George wanted to help serve his brethren.

Many may not remember George’s campaign slogan – “First in War, First in Peace, First in the hearts of his countrymen”.  George Washington knew about the Spirit of the Living Lord Jesus that he read in his Bible. George was willing to give his life for his family and his country.

We should all obey Christ’s command to “Go and do likewise”!

Be like Jesus to everyone we meet today!
