Ladies and Gentlemen, let us consider the importance of the words “I promise you . . . . . “

Whether it is a child, a business colleague, or even your spouse, whenever we utter these words we must do everything we possibly can do to accomplish our stated purpose.  Every relationship that is worth having is based on honesty, integrity, and commitment.  We must be in agreement even in our prayers with one another.

Please review the oath of office for our elected representatives:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

We have a form of government that is “of the people, by the people, and for the people”. When we make a promise in the presence of witnesses and in the authority and the name of our Creator, we must be totally serious about any such covenant commitment. The Bible reads that the root of our laws is with “two or three witnesses the matter shall be established” Deuteronomy 19:15

Heavenly Father, our personal pledges are THE most important words of our lives. For if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord of our lives, and we believe in our hearts that Almighty God has raised Him from the dead, we will be SAVED by Grace through FAITH!  We all make covenant commitments with the words of our mouths by proclaiming what we believe in our heart of hearts. We pray today that our elected representatives would keep their solemn oath of office. We pray today that business men and business women would keep their commitments of time, energy, and resources to one another. We pray that each of us would let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart always BE acceptable in Your Sight, Oh Lord, my strength, my Redeemer, and my Savior!  Amen and Amen!

The scriptural reference for Today’s Prayer Alert is  Luke 6:43-45

Jesus says: For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Say only the truth that is in your heart and always speak what you say is true! Every conversation we have today has the Holy Spirit of the Living Lord listening to what we say. Will He, the Spirit of Truth agree with what you say as TRUE?

Amen and Amen!
