Ladies and Gentlemen, have you noticed the explosion of “Christmas” decorations that have suddenly appeared on our houses, our cars, our business offices, our retail stores?  Christmas cheer was even in the hospital that we visited recently. Everywhere it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. We live in Texas where small town squares still have nativity scenes, angel’s silhouettes in bright lights and Christmas hymns being played over loud speakers for all to hear.

I sometimes wonder if the Lord our God, looks at us – His Children and is amazed at our efforts to re-tell His Story? Almost every Christmas pageant, every church choir program, and even some television programs are presenting this profound message that our Savior JESUS the Christ, the Messiah is born here on earth!  So why was He born?  For what purpose did Jesus become one of us?

Father God, we celebrate this event that happened more than 2,000 years ago, You left Your Throne in Glory and as the Gospel of John states this: The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His Glory, the Glory of the only begotten of the Father, FULL of GRACE and TRUTH!

1John 3:1-3 & 7-11

Behold what manner of LOVE the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called Children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.  Beloved, now we are Children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is Pure.

Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness {right way of living} is righteous {accepted as an heir in a right relationship}, just as He is Righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He {Christ Jesus} might destroy the works of the devil.

Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His Seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.  In this the Children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice Righteousness is not of God, nor is he {anyone} who does not love his brother or their sister!

For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another!

Amen and Amen!
