Ladies and Gentlemen, we celebrate this Memorial Day as true Patriots of America!

We remember the Gold Star Family members who cannot celebrate this holiday with their family members who have given the ultimate sacrifice of their lives for our country.

We remember Arlington National Cemetery and the more than 400,000 people that are buried there, who also have given their lives for our country.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. We tell you this directly from the Word of the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died.  For the Lord himself will come down from Heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the Archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.

Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord FOREVER!

So encourage each other with these words.

1Thessalonians 4:13-18

This is a time that we commemorate and give HONOR to whom Honor is due! Everyone who has lost a family member knows this confident assurance that their sacrifice was NOT in vain. Our emotions for this Memorial Day can best be summed up in this Hymn:

A Mighty Fortress is Our God
by Dr. Martin Luther, 1483-1546

A Mighty Fortress is our God,
A bulwark never failing.
Our Helper He amid the flood
of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
Doth seek to work us woe.
His craft and power are great,
and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide,
Our striving would be losing,
Were not the Right Man on our side,
The Man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is He.
Lord Sabboth, His Name,
From age to age the same,
and He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His Truth to triumph through us.
The Prince of darkness grim,
We tremble not for him.
His rage we can endure,
For lo, his doom is sure.
One little Word shall fell him.

That “Word” above all earthly powers
Not thanks to them, abideth.
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Through Him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also.
The body they may kill,
God's Truth abideth still.

His Kingdom is FOREVER!

Amen and Amen!
