Ladies and Gentlemen, we have been studying lately the phrase “a city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”Here is what Jesus says:

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and Glorify your Father in Heaven.       Matthew 5:14-16

This phrase entered the American lexicon early in its history, in the PuritanJohn Winthrop's 1630 sermon "A Model of Christian Charity". Still aboard the ship Arbella, Winthrop admonished the future Massachusetts Bay colonists that their new community would be a "city upon a hill", watched by the world — which became the ideal the New England colonists placed upon their hilly capital city, Boston!   Winthrop's sermon gave rise to the widespread belief in American folklore that the United States of America is God's country because metaphorically it is a Shining City upon a Hill, an early example of American exceptionalism.

John Winthrop knew the importance of serving the Lord our God! Winthrop wanted the people to focus on the Living God-Jehovah and be dependent upon His Grace, His Mercies and His TRUTH!

Father-God, we THANK YOU for the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God in my Bible. Lord, You KNOW the intent of my heart! There is nothing in my mind nor in my heart that is ‘hidden’ from You, and ALL THINGS are naked and open to the Eyes of Him to whom we must give an account.     Hebrews 4:12-13

When enough people put the Kingdom of God FIRST in our daily lives and become totally dependent upon Him and not the federal government, then we will be once again ONE NATION UNDER GOD with Liberty and Justice for ALL! Oh Lord, let this revival begin in my heart TODAY!

Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart ALWAYS BE acceptable in Your Sight, Oh Lord my strength and my Redeemer!

Amen and Amen!
