The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) has filed a brief last week with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit urging the court to clear the way for an Ohio Common Pleas Court – Judge James Deweese to display a poster in his court room that includes the “Ten Commandments”

ACLJ Urges Federal Appeals Court to Permit Display of the Ten Commandments

The ACLJ is asking the appeals court to overturn a federal district court ruling from October that declared the poster “unconstitutional” and issued an injunction prohibiting its display.

Heavenly Father, we pray that the Judge who hears this case in the Federal Court of Appeals will rule in FAVOR of Judge James Deweese and his Constitutional “right” to display the “Ten Commandments” in his court.   Amen and Amen!

The scriptural reference for Today’s Prayer Alert is  Mark 12:28-34

Then one of the scribes {a lawyer} came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?" Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is:

'Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one.  And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all of your soul, with all of your mind, and with all of your strength.'(Deuteronomy 6:5) This is the first commandment.  And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' (Leviticus 19:18) There is no other commandment greater than these."

So the scribe said to Him, "Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He. And to love Him with all of my heart, with all of my understanding, with all of my soul, and with all strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is more important than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices." Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, "You are not far from the Kingdom of God."   Mark 12:28-34

Ladies and Gentlemen, in order for us to become “closer” to the Kingdom of God here on earth, we must be obedient to the Word of God, His Laws and His Commandments. We must believe that Christ Jesus our Lord, IS who He says HE IS. When we realize that we LOVE HIM, because He first loved us and made it possible that we could ALL have a right relationship with OUR HEAVENLY FATHER as a co-heir to the Throne of His Grace, His Mercies, His Power, and His Authority, then we naturally will surrender our purposes and our limited way of thinking to Him.

We can now TRUST JESUS, that His Promises are TRUE, confident that His Words spoken to us are for our benefit. This “lawyer” was smart enough to AGREE with Jesus and speak from his heart that Almighty God has first priority in his life. Jesus may have looked full into his face, straight into his eyes and encouraged him that these spoken words of Faith were creating an atmosphere to bring very close to this world - His Righteousness, His Peace, and His Joy that is Heaven on earth!

Oh Lord Jesus, we pray that Your Abiding Presence is with us today, just like Heaven on earth!

Amen and Amen!
