Holy Father, we pray today for the people of this world that go to bed ever night with an empty stomach and an aching heart. We pray for mothers who suffer the pain of watching their children starve to death for a lack of food, while millions of us are obese. Life is not fair and there is little equity in this world. We know that You Lord did NOT make it this way. We have done this to ourselves through the sin of selfishness and gluttony. All sin is idolatry and this idolatry is rampant among us.

Forgive us Lord, we pray that You would open the eyes of our hearts, so that we can see the needs of others. We pray that a genuine concern for others moves us to fervent prayer and actions.  Amen and Amen!

Here is the scriptural reference for today’s prayer of agreement:

People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child {with unconditional trust and faith} will never enter it."  And He took the children in His arms, put His hands on them and He Blessed them.    Mark 10:13-16

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have all seen the emotional television appeals for sending monies to the starving children around the world. May I suggest to you, that we bring this need a little closer to home. Because of our current economic recession, our giving to “food banks” and “church missions” seems to be lacking.

Try this the next time your local church has a meeting of the youth or elders. Go to work at the city’s food bank. Volunteer to stock the shelves. Volunteer to carry a box, a couple of sacks, or a cart full of assorted groceries to those shut-ins, disabled veterans, and single mothers that may be working two jobs to support her children. Find those in need in shelters and make a list of those needs. Then collect those needed items and distribute according to those needs.  We, as a people, have got to stop “phoning in or mailing in our responses”. We must start taking those actions steps that will make a difference in the daily lives of our brothers and sisters.

No act of kindness, no matter how small is every wasted.

Share the love of Jesus with everyone you meet today!  Proclaim a Blessing on their lives! With the permission of the parent(s), pick up a child in your arms and speak a blessing over them, just like Jesus does.

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul! Let all that is within me – BLESS HIS HOLY NAME!

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul! And forget not ALL OF HIS BENEFITS!      Amen and Amen!
