As the events around the world rush forward to become history, we can pause today and look towards Heaven where our “help” in troubled times always comes from the Lord our God!

Our God is Sovereign!  Our God Reigns!  God’s GRACE is evident!

During the singing of “America the Beautiful” on Super Bowl Sunday, the words in the verse that struck a chord in my heart were:

America!  America!  God shed His Grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea.

Ladies and Gentlemen, without God’s abundant GRACE we would ALL be without Hope in a very dark and cruel world.  We have heard these words and sung this song hundreds of times, and yet these words seem to be like our PRAYER on behalf of the people of this country. For a brief moment in time, the people of America were in agreement as we asked the Lord our God to Bless this land, show us the “GOOD” and righteous actions of our people; share the LOVE of God with “brotherhood” as we take care of one another; and let the Holy Spirit of Almighty God flow across this entire nation from the Atlantic to the Pacific, without any limitations cover us all in His unmerited favor!  Make it so dear Lord, make it so!

The scriptural reference for Today’s Prayer Alert is  Ephesians 2:4-10

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great LOVE with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by His Grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the Heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His Grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

For by Grace you have been saved through Faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the Gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

For we are His Workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Amen and Amen!
