All of the world seems to be focused on the situation with the people of Haiti. We are reminded once again that we do care for others with tragedy strikes. This is an outpouring of genuine empathy. Our faith in the human race is strengthened by what we have witnessed over the past few days.

Heavenly Father, we Thank You for putting in the heart of ALL men and women the capacity and the emotional response to take care of one another. Our heart’s desire is to help those victims of these catastrophic events that strike the just and the unjust. Lord Jesus, Your Grace is sufficient for ALL OUR NEEDS!   Amen and Amen!

The scriptural reference for Today’s Prayer Alert is  Act 16:25-34

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose.

The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, "Don't harm yourself! We are all here!" The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-you and your household." Then they spoke the Word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized.

The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God – that included he and his whole family.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we know that everything that can be shaken, will be shaken in order that what is “unshakeable” will remain. People are still being found alive in the rubble of the buildings shaken by the earthquake in Haiti. Children have survived for days without food and water. A 69 year old women was found and asked how she survived for seven days, she answered “With Prayer!”

We do not know the mindset of Almighty God unless we read and meditate upon His Word. Paul and Silas were “praying and singing hymns to God” – worshipping in the middle of their crisis and then the  earthquake destroyed their prison and yet they were still alive. The jailer, who did not believe in God witnessed the power of God and took these prisoners home to his family and “took care of them”!

Paul and Silas have faith that cannot be shaken. The jailer and his whole family have faith that cannot be shaken. Some of the people in Haiti, now have faith that cannot be shaken.

Thanks BE to God, who give us the Victory through our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus!

Amen and Amen!
