This is a DAY for GIVING THANKS to Almighty GOD-JEHOVAH!
Ladies and Gentlemen, in 1789 our President George Washington wrote these words:
Whereas it is the DUTY of ALL NATIONS to acknowledge the Providence of Almighty GOD, to OBEY His WILL, to be GRATEFUL for His Benefits and humbly to implore His Protection and His Favor, and whereas BOTH houses of the Congress have, and by their joint committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a DAY of Public THANKSGIVING AND PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal FAVORS of Almighty GOD, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to ESTABLISH a form of government for their safety and happiness.
Given under my hand, at the city of New York, the third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine.
We have thousands and thousands of reasons to be filled with THANKS on this day! Some of the greatest theology that has ever been written is in our hymns! One of the most precious songs that celebrates this day is called the “Thanksgiving Hymn”! Here are some links to that music:
We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;
He chastens and hastens His will to make known.
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.
Sing praises to His name; He forgets not His own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, were at our side, all glory be Thine!
We all do extol Thee, Thou leader triumphant,
And pray that Thou still our defender will be.
Let Thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

But above all these things put on {His} LOVE, which is the bond of perfection. And let the Peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and BE THANKFUL!
Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with Grace in your hearts to the Lord.
And whatever you do in word or deed, do ALL in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
